This is a broadcast
of the UN Police in Timor-Leste to provide you with information about the
security situation around the country.
The overall security situation across the country remains
volatile.
At 2230 hrs last night, it was reported that 20 people had
threatened to burn a house in the Pantai Kelapa neighborhood. UNPol patrolled the area throughout the
night. Later in the evening, at 2310 hrs a report came in involving rock
throwing between two groups in Motael.
UNPol was dispatched at the scene and the situation was brought under
control. No injuries were sustained and
no arrests were made.
In Lospalos last night, a PNTL vehicle was stoned by
unidentified people. One PNTL officer
was slightly injured.
Today, in Dili UNPol conducted 24 patrols. No serious incidents were reported throughout
the day.
UNPol, PNTL and the ISF are working together to provide
security to the people of Timor-Leste. The UNPol Election Security Plan is
currently in Phase Four, the post-elections phase. UNPol, PNTL and the Formed Police
Units remain deployed and are on stand-by for any post-elections clashes or
victory processions. The International Stabilization Forces are also on
stand-by, ready to be deployed upon request.
The police would like to remind the people of Timor-Leste
that they require valid driving licenses before they are allowed to drive on
the roads. All vehicles should also display valid license plates. These
measures are in place to help ensure road safety.
The Police advise to avoid traveling during the night to the
