UNPOL: Daily Security Briefing December 17 2006
Yesterday, during the afternoon, an alleged assault on an infant originated disorderly behavior in the airport facilities. The police had to prevent the crowd from assembling in the airport, and the child received treatment from the ambulance crew that attended the location.
During the afternoon, one rock throwing incident was reported in Aimutin. A person was arrested on the Beach Road, after being caught in the possession of slingshots. He allegedly belongs to a martial art group.
A fighting in the vicinity of Obrigado IDP camp, during last evening, was stopped by UNPol intervention. The police continues to ask for your collaboration.

The continuous fightings between martial art groups in Kampung Alor area continue to stain the calm environment around Dili. Four people were detained during one of these incidents and charged for assault. In Colmera, during the night, UNPol seized several weapons, namely knifes. This morning, a fight between two martial art groups involving a large number of people arose in Kampung Alor area. A firearm was sighted within the crowd and shots were fired. One person was injured by a gun shot and came to die. Another person severely wounded with a dart in his chest received medical care at Dili National Hospital. The ISF and UNPol attended and secured the area. This incident is already under investigation.
