UNPol in East Timor Security Briefing 15 December 2006

It has been a quite atmosphere in Dili and in the other districts for the past 24 hours.

Yesterday, two martial art groups were involved in minor disputes in Kampung Alor area, in Comoro. The police presence prevented further fightings. Today, the security situation remains calm, without relevant incidents to report.

UNPol calls everyone’s attention for the importance of collaborating with the Police. If have testified a crime or know important information regarding any event that has happened or will happen in the future contact the police. All information people may give to our investigators will be kept in secret so that they don’t suffer reprisals. The information that you may give the police might do the difference in the discovery of truth. Fell free to contribute and turn your society into a safer and secure place. If you’re afraid of going to a police station, feel free to call 112 or 7230365, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, explain the situation and the police will contact you wherever you feel comfortable.
