UNPol in East Timor Security Briefing 14 January 2008



UNPol Daily Security Briefing 14 January 2008 -  This is a broadcast of the UN Police in Timor-Leste to provide you with information about the security situation around the country.

The security situation in Timor-Leste has been calm.

Today in Dili, police responded to eight incidents, four of which were confirmed. They included two small fights, one in Caicoli, and one in the 28 November High School. A 19-year-old man sustained a minor injury in the fight in Caicoli. Four men were arrested in connection with the incidents.

Yesterday the security situation in Dili remained calm. There were no arrests.

There were no reports of any serious incidents taking place in the districts yesterday.

Heavy rainfall continues in many parts of Timor-Leste, particularly in the western districts. Motorists are advised to be cautious
when driving. Day time travel is advised in the affected areas unless you are forced to travel by night.

The police advise to avoid travelling during the night to the most affected areas. Please report any suspicious activities.  You can call 112 or 7230365 to contact the police 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
