UNPol in East Timor Security Briefing 16 February 2007



Yesterday afternoon, two groups, with about 70 people got involved in a fighting in Fatuhada. UNPol patrol units attended, supported by Portuguese and Malaysian FPU and got the groups apparts. One person had minor injuries in his body and received medical treatment at
Bairro Pite Clinic.

In Taibessi disturbances were reported, but the people involved fled away at police arrival.

In Bairro Pite a house was burnt, probably due to electrical failure.

During the night, several reports of disorderly behavior and rock fighting in Bubularan, Bemori and Comoro, but these were not confirmed by the attendant patrol units.

Today, Dili has remained relatively calm without major incidents reported.

In Liquica two houses were burnt yesterday. The police is already investigating the case.

In Kaisuru, Ermera district, on the 14th FEB , a man of 62 years old was stabbed and consequently died. The incident was due to a revenge act and one of the suspects, a man of 53 years old, has surrended to the police.
