UNPol in East Timor Security Briefing 12 December 2006

Last night was relatively quiet in Dili. Police received several reports of fighting but at the patrols arrival, no disturbances were located. A grenade was handed by local people at Comoro Station,

In the other districts, the situation has been relatively calm. In Covalima, however, Police was called to a house in Fatumea, where a body of a 50 year old woman was found. Investigations into her death have started.

This number is staffed with people who speak Tétum, Portuguese, English and Bahasa, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to help the police respond quickly to any emergency. Help us to bring security to your neighborhood, by calling the police as soon as you can, informing what is happening, when is happening, now, past or future, where is happening, by giving the exact location of the incident, who is involved, referring to the number of people, how is happening, meaning if there’s violence or weapons involved.
