UNPol in East Timor Security Briefing 19 January 2007



Yesterday, during the afternoon, two fights with rock throwing, near Bairro Pite, involving large group of people erupted. The patrol units and the FPU attended and reestablish cam. One FPU was deployed in the area to restore order in that vicinity.

The night was stained by an incident at Manu Meta Rai Hun, where a fight between two martial art group members left two people injured: one male suffered a gunshot wound in a foot, and other was wounded in a leg by a dart. Fatuhada was also affected by rock throwing incidents.

We ask people to remain cal and to avoid troubled areas. The police is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, thru the toll free number 112 or 720365.
