Eight people were arrested during the last 24 hours, namely for fighting, possession of weapon or explosive.

We also report that during today's afternoon the suspect of three rape cases has been arrested. The suspect arrest was covered by the warrant order issued has a request of the investigators dealing with these investigations for the past two months.

In the districts the situation is calm. A report of 6 houses burnt by a group of people on the 23rd December in Ermera District is being investigated.

Yesterday, in Dili, a family dispute led to police intervention and resulted in the arrest of the two involved people. A person was arrested for the possession of a hand grenade during last night. We continue to alert people that it is dangerous and forbidden to use explosives or fireworks.

In some of the reported traffic accidents intoxicated people are involved. We remind you that it is forbidden to drive after being drinking; hence it reduces your reactions. You may injure yourself and others. Be responsible and remember that, while driving, not only your life is in your hands.
