UNPol Daily Security Briefing 27 November - This is a
broadcast of the UN Police in Timor-Leste to provide you with information about
the security situation around the country.
The security situation in Timor-Leste is generally calm.
Today in Dili, police attended twelve incidents, including
fights near Marconi football field and Timor Lodge. The fight at Marconi
football field involved approximately 100 people, and one police car was
damaged by rock throwing before police managed to disperse the crowd. Two men
were arrested after being found in possession of offensive weapons.
Separately, police in Hera saved a child from drowning in
the sea near Hera IDP camp. The child was taken to Dili hospital after the
incident, and reports indicate that he is in good health.
The security situation in Dili remained calm last night,
aside from a couple of minor incidents. Police made three arrests: one for
assault, one for creating a public disturbance, and one for possession of an
illegal weapon.
The police advise to avoid travelling during the night to
