UNPol Daily Security Briefing 4 Dec 2007 - This is a broadcast of the UN Police in
Timor-Leste to provide you with information about the security situation around
the country. The security situation in Timor-Leste is generally calm.
Today in Dili, police attended 11 incidents, including one
incident of domestic abuse in Beto Timor, where the father of an 18-year-old
woman struck his daughter on the head with a machete. The woman has been taken
to Dili hospital, but her injuries are not thought to be serious.
Yesterday afternoon in Dili, police received reports of a
fight outside Timor Lodge involving approximately 200 people. They managed to
bring the situation under control in less than an hour with the assistance of
UNPol's Formed Police Units (FPUs), the Falintil Defence Forces of Timor-Leste
(F-FDTL), and the International Security Forces (ISF). Reports indicate that
three people were injured in the fight, although the extent of their injuries
is not known. No firearms were discharged.
Police are still searching for a two-year-old girl from
Formosa, Dili, who has been missing since yesterday. Her name is Jotoria Lay
Desa. If you have any information as to her whereabouts, please call police on

The police advise to avoid travelling during the night to
the most affected areas. Please report any suspicious activities. You can call 112 or 7230365 to contact the
