UNMIT Daily Security Briefing 21 December 2007 - This is a
broadcast of the UN Police in Timor-Leste to provide you with information about
the security situation around the country.
The security situation in Dili and across the country over
the past 24 hours remains relatively calm.
At 12.30am this morning, UNPOL responded to a report of
fighting between two groups at Surik Mas roundabout in Dili. A warning shot
fired by a PNTL officer dispersed the groups.
Yesterday morning at 9am, fighting erupted between three
martial art’s groups at Bikala’s Market in Hatu Udo, Ainaro District.
Approximately 25 people were involved in the stone throwing. Minor injuries were
sustained by three persons.
Yesterday afternoon at 3.30pm, a civilian vehicle
accompanying the Presidential Convoy to Viqueque was stoned by unidentified
persons. No damages or casualties were reported.
The police advise to avoid travelling during the night to
the most affected areas. Please report any suspicious activities. You can call 112 or 7230365 to contact the
