UNPol Daily Security Briefing 26 December 2007 - This is a
broadcast of the UN Police in Timor-Leste to provide you with information about
the security situation around the country.
The security situation in Dili and across the country over
the past 24 hours remains relatively calm.
Early yesterday morning at 3am, Laga PNTL responded to
reports of fighting by villagers in Mulia village, sub-district Laga, Baucau
District. Six persons were arrested. Minor injuries were sustained.
Yesterday morning at 8.20am, a man was arrested at Comoro
Market on charges of possessing a machete and a sling shot.
Later that afternoon at 6.30pm, a UN vehicle was stoned at
Metinaro IDP camp. The GNR FPU were able to disperse the crowd and no injuries
were sustained.
At 10.20pm on Monday night, UNPOL and the PNTL Task Force
responded to reports of a fight between two martial arts groups in Gariwai
village, Baucau. A man, injured by an arrow dart in his left leg, was
transported to the hospital. The case is under investigation.
