UNPol Daily Security Briefing 25 January 2008 - This is a
broadcast of the UN Police in Timor-Leste to provide you with information about
the security situation around the country.
The security situation in Timor-Leste has been calm. Today
in Dili, police attended three confirmed incidents, including a case of assault
where a 22-year-old man sustained a minor injury to his chin. The suspect fled
the scene and the victim was taken to Dili hospital.
The security situation in Dili last night remained mostly
calm. Police made arrested two men; one for assault and one for disorderly
behaviour.
Yesterday in Baucau district, police received a report of
two groups fighting in Buibau village. The police were able to stop the fight,
and arrested a 20-year-old man in the process. There were no reports of any
injuries.
Heavy rainfall continues in many parts of Timor-Leste,
particularly in the western districts. Motorists are advised to be cautious
when driving. Day time travel is advised in the affected areas unless you areforced to travel by night.
The police advise to avoid travelling during the night to
