This is a broadcast
of the UN Police in Timor-Leste to provide you with information about the
security situation around the country.
The security situation in Timor-Leste as a whole has been
calm, although Viqueque remains tense.
Today in Dili, UNPol attended seven incidents, including two
minor cases of assault and one of burglary. None of the incidents were major.
Yesterday in Dili, there were sporadic incidents of rock
throwing in Santa Cruz, Bairo Pite and Comoro market, damaging two UN vehicles.
No-one was injured in the attacks. Separately, one person was arrested for
drunken behaviour in Fatuhada.
In Lautem yesterday, police responded to a report of arson
in Kuluhun sub-village. They encountered burning tyres and a road block near
the sub-village, but no sign of a house on fire. The police team also came
under attack by people throwing rocks on their way back to the station. There
were no injuries, but one vehicle was damaged. Police are now searching for the
perpetrators.
In Ermera, a man was arrested in Gleno yesterday for
possession of an illegal weapon after he was found drunk and disorderly with a
large knife.
There were no reports of any criminal offences yesterday in
Viqueque.
United Nations police officers in conjunction with the
national police of Timor-Leste (PNTL) and the International Stabilisation Force
(ISF) remain fully deployed to respond to any disturbances that may emerge.
