The security situation throughout the country has been calm.

Today in Dili, UNPol conducted 42 patrols and were required to attend to only two incidents, a minor disturbance and a small trafficaccident. No major incidents were reported.

Yesterday in Ermera, a 35-year-old man reported to UNPol and PNTL that he was attacked by two unidentified people whilst in his house in Ponilala village. He sustained a minor injury to his head and later received treatment at Ermera hospital. The case is being investigated by UNPol and PNTL officers. In Oecussi, a 30-year-old man sustained minor injuries after an assault. Police are investigating.

With regards to the attempted murder in Ossu, Viqueque, on 3 June, National Investigation Division officers have located four witnesses and took four statements yesterday. Also, upon request from UNPol, the Prosecutor has agreed to allow the collected PNTL  eapons to be released for ballistics testing. This will allow the police to identify which gun was responsible for the shooting.

Also yesterday, UNPol reported providing security to five political rallies in the districts of Aileu, Ainaro, Ermera and Oecussi. There  were no reports of any security incidents related to the campaigning.

The Police advise to avoid traveling during the night to the most affected areas. Report any suspicious activities and avoid traveling the areas affected by disturbances. Call 112 or 7230365 to contact the police 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
