UNPol in East Timor Security Briefing 29 December 2006

This is a broadcast of the UN Police in Timor-Leste to provide you with information about the security situation around the country. The past 24 hours have been very calm in Dili and in outside Districts. Some reports of minor disturbances in Becora during yesterday afternoon, and one PNTL was attacked, near the HPOD, on his way to work at night. Investigations have started.

Be aware that the police stations and posts are operational in Caicoli, Becora, Comoro, Bidau, Airpot, Pentai Kelapa (24/7), and Mercado Lama, Hera (07am-10pm), Seaport and Taci Tolu (07am-5pm). In other areas UNPol assures the existence of mobile patrols. We remind you that the police is always available to help you, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Collaborate informing about any suspicious acts that may help prevent any crime or disorderly behavior. Help us to make your society into a safer place.
