UNPol Daily Security Briefing 20 November 2007 - This is a
broadcast of the UN Police in Timor-Leste to provide you with information about
the security situation around the country.
The security situation in Timor-Leste is generally calm,
although a murder has been reported in Manatuto.
Yesterday in Aubeon Suco of Manatuto, police received a
report that a man allegedly killed his wife on Sunday and then went into
hiding. Police are trying to get more information on the incident, but have
been delayed due to the remoteness of the Suco.
Today in Dili, UNPol attended six incidents, including an
incident where a fight almost broke out between an employer and his employees
in Pantai Kelapa. Police intervened and persuaded the employees to file a
complaint with at Comoro police station instead.
The situation in Dili remained calm last night. Six people
were arrested for various offences, including theft and domestic assault.
The police advise to avoid travelling during the night to
the most affected areas. Please report any suspicious activities. You can call 112 or 7230365 to contact the
