UNPol Daily Security Briefing 23 November 2007 - This
is a broadcast of the UN Police in Timor-Leste to provide you with information
about the security situation around the country.
The security situation in Timor-Leste is calm.
Today in Dili, police attended seven incidents, including a
fight between five people at Becora bus station and an assault in Banana Road.
Police have established who the suspects in the assault case are, and are
currently searching for them.
Early this morning, at around 0125hrs, a PNTL Immigration
Officer was assaulted in Taibessi. Reports indicate he might have been heavily
intoxicated at the time. Police are investigating.
The security situation in Dili remained quiet last night,
and there were no arrests.
The registration period for the PNTL screening process ends
in just over a week on 1 December, 2007. The screening of PNTL officers is a
key part of the reconstitution of the national police.
The police advise to avoid travelling during the night to
